Officer Research & Development

Job Purpose

To provide technical support in conducting research, analysing data, and contributing to strategy development within the ICT and Research department, with the overarching goal of fostering innovation and progress in the telecommunications sector.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Conduct basic data collection and entry within the Unit to ensure quality and efficiency, supporting ongoing research projects by providing day-to-day technical assistance to the supervisor, ensuring adherence to work plans and timelines, and maintaining high data quality.

2. Identify and implement appropriate research techniques and support the research, innovation and development initiatives.

3. Participate in preparing research instruments, research studies report writing, and timely dissemination of research findings.

4. Perform data/ statistical analysis and generate analysis reports to inform recommendations from research findings, initiatives, and proposed interventions.

5. Proactively initiate or participate in proposal writing to secure additional funding for research and service development processes.

6. Engage in research and development projects, including feasibility studies and market research, to stay informed about regulatory developments and innovations in the communication sector.

7. Maintain productive stakeholder relationships by coordinating communication for external and internal research inquiries from colleagues, government departments and agencies, and the public,

8. Manage knowledge and information by updating relevant research databases.

9. Maintain flexibility to accommodate any other duties assigned by the line supervisor from time to time.

· Timely responsiveness to communication to external and internal research inquiries.

· Research and development projects participated in.

· Accuracy and completeness of the maintained database of relevant sector information.

· Successful proposals written to secure additional funding for research and service development

Education and Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in economics, quantitative economics, Data science, statistics, social sciences or related field

Working Experience

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in socio-economic research in a similar corporate environment.
