Job Description
Atomic Energy Council Seeks to Recruit highly motivated, result oriented and suitably qualified professional Radiator Protection Officer-Instrumentation with high level of integrity.
Job Purpose:
To provide technical support and export so in the calibrator, maintenance, testira and verification of radiation detection and measurement instruments to ensure rellability and accuracy of radiation monitoring systems used in regulatory activities.
aj At least a Second Class Bachelor’s degree in other Physics or Radiation protection or Instrumentation angincoring or Electronics or Nuclear science and technology or Science Laboratory Technology (Physics) from a recognized and resulable University.
b) A Masters’ degree or Post Graduate qualification in either Physics or Radiation protection or Instrumentation ergincoring ar Eectronics or Nuclear scionoo and technology or Science Laboratory Techrology (Physics) is an added advantage.
c) Experience in Nuclear science and techno ogy is an added advantage
Key Competencies and Skills
a) Strong understanding of radiation and nuclear safety concepts and measurement techniques. b) Preticioncy in calioration, rouble shooting and maintenance of radiation measuring instruments ci Proficiency in ICT tools for data recording, analysis anc reporting
Sound know.adge of IAFA and ISO standards on radiation instruertation and quality systems e) High level of technical precision, analytical ski Is and attention to detai.
f) Report writing, prosortation and cornmuncations skills
9) Knowledge of strategic management

i) Demonstration of personal drive
j) Strong conceptual and analytical skills
ki Abilly to work indoorndently under minimal supervision
1) Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 Calibration Standards and Laboratory Managemen: Systems
m) Sound know edge of the Atomic Energy Aul Cap.154, Regulations thereunder and IA-A Safety Standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate the Installation of new equipment.
ii Assist in carrying out performance checks testing and calibrator of radiation measuring cquipment and syslerris.
iii Undertake controlled exper rents and trials.
iv) Assist in refurbishing electronic gadgets for applications in nuclear instrumentation.
Deve op Regulatory Documents as may be required.
v) Update instrumentation databases.
vi) Diagnose and repair faults in rad atian monitoring instruments.
