Qualifications
Atomic Energy Council Seeks to Recruit highly motivated, result oriented and suitably qualified professional Radiation Protection Officer with high level of integrity.
Reports to:
Senior or Radiation Protection Officer – Inspection and Enforcement 
Jon Purpose:
To plan, coordinate, conduct regulatory inspections and enforcement activities to ensure that practices and facilities using on zing radiation comply with the Atomic Energy Act Cap. 15 regulations the under, license conditions and IAEA Safety standards, thereby protecting workers, the public and the environment from harmful effects of ionizing Radiation
Qualification:
a) At least a Second Class Bachelor’s degree in either Physics or Radial on protection or Nuclear safety or Nuclear science and technology from a recognized and reputable University.
b) A Masters degree or Post Graduate qualification in either Physics or Radiation protection or Nuclear safety or Nuclear science and technology is an added advantage.
c) Experience in Nuclear science and technology is ar added advantage
Key Competencies and Skills
aj Strong knowledge of radiation source categorization and Inspection and Enforcement process
bi Profciorcy in use and calibration of radiation detection equipment
Computer literacy and familiarity with regulatory data systems eg RAIS+
dj Proficiency in safety assessments, risk evaluation and radiation control techniques
ej Report writing, presentat on anc communications skills
Knowledge of strategic mar agemon:
Ability to make decisions
h; Demonstration of personal drive
i) Strong conceptua and analytical skills
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
ki Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
I; Sound know acge of the Atomic Energy Act Cap. 154. Regulations thercurder and IAEA Safety Standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct regulatory inspections and enforcements.
Update inspection databases.
iii) Dovolop rogu atory documents as may be required.
iv) Identify potential radiation hazards and recommend appropriate practica safety measures to ensure radiation exposures remain ALARA.
v) Farticipate in the investigation of radiation related incidents accidens and abrommal
cccurrences.
